Trips to the Surroundings

Terme Tuhelj is a suitable starting point for numerous multi-day trips to the surroundings. The winding, quiet roads of Croatian Zagorje invite you to take more time for trips and follow the charms of the tranquil, picturesque landscape.

The not-to-be-missed destinations in Croatian Zagorje are Klanjec, Kumrovec, and Krapina, Trakošćan and Veliki Tabor Castles, and the pilgrimage centre of Marija Bistrica. Terme Tuhelj can also be a starting point to visit Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia.

Along the Sotla River

Near the lower part of the river Sotla, which forms a natural boundary line with Slovenia, lies Klanjec and a gallery of Antun Augustinčić, the famous sculptor whose statue stands in front of the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.

Antun Mihanović, author of the Croatian national anthem “Lijepa naša” (“Our Beautiful”), also used to live in the town. His statue was erected there in 1935, when the poem had not yet become the national anthem.

Kumrovec, a village alongside which the Sotla flows, hosts the Staro Selo Ethnological Open-Air Museum and the birth house of Josip Broz Tito
